EMV Chip Cards
Recently our credit union was awarded a grant to help fund converting our current magnetic stripe debit cards to EMV chip cards. As the industry continues to develop new ways to protect consumers, criminals continue to develop new ways to commit fraud. Chip cards provide an additional layer of security.

Home Banking Problems with Google Chrome
Members have reported trouble accessing Home Banking. Typically, an insecure website message when accessing home banking using Google Chrome on Windows 10 appears. This is due to an update earlier in the year that Chrome completed. Our data processor is diligently working toward a resolution to the problem and their project completion date should be close to year end. In the meantime, members who are using Chrome on Windows 10 are going to need to use Internet Explorer, Edge, Safari, or Firefox until there is an update for Google Chrome. You will not get this message using any other browser.

Monthly Board of Directors Meeting
Monthly, the Credit Union holds a Board of Directors meeting. Any member may attend the meeting. The board of directors is responsible for the general direction and control of a federal credit union. The board may delegate operational functions to management, but not the responsibility for the credit union's direction. A director must carry out his or her duties in good faith, in a manner reasonably believed to be in the best interests of the membership, and with such care, including reasonable inquiry, as an ordinarily prudent person in a like position would use under similar circumstances. A director must administer the affairs of the credit union fairly and impartially and without discrimination in favor of or against any particular member. A director must have at least a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices, including the ability to read and understand the credit union's balance sheet and income statement and the ability to ask, as appropriate, substantive questions of management and auditors. A director must direct the operations of the federal credit union in conformity with the Federal Credit Union Act, NCUA's Rules and Regulations, other applicable laws, and sound business practices. A director may rely on information prepared or presented by employees or consultants the director reasonably believes to be reliable and competent and who merit confidence in the particular functions performed.
Each year as a member of the credit union, you receive an invitation to the Annual Meeting. But you probably have never attended. Does the name "Annual Meeting" make it sound too boring? When you understand what is so special about a credit union's Annual Meeting, you will realize they aren't boring at all! The credit union Annual Meeting is actually the annual meeting of the membership. This a huge part of what makes credit unions so different from banks. A credit union's annual meeting provides a wonderful forum for members to obtain specific financial information about their credit union's performance from the prior year and learn more about the strategy and efforts that will be followed for the current year. It is also at the Annual Meeting that the membership gets to choose the volunteer Board of Directors for the credit union. You can ask questions, voice your opinions and be involved in making your credit union better! Plus, you can meet the credit union's Board of Directors, President/CEO, and Management Team; and you have the opportunity to hang out with the staff you talk with on the phone every time you call! And, you can meet with other credit union members. This too, is a fundamental difference between a credit union and a bank; it's what makes us a family!
